WOW!!!! Is that all?? Here in Singapore, the price difference between a 525 and a 530 is US$14.4k...... thereabouts....
If the difference is so marginal, get the 530.......

Well, if you live in Singapore, try looking at the BMW USA website and see how much a M5 costs. Be sure to have a chair beneath you and smelling salts nearby. A bucket may also be helpful if you're prone to vomiting...
Arrhhh.....I think I need to sit down......

If I bought E60 all over again, I'd buy 550 and never buy 530. 530 is good enough for myself weighing 165lbs, but adding another 100lbs will significantly make the car slower.

One frustrating thing, mentioned earlier in this post, is to see other manufacturers like Toyota and their Camry having more horses (getting beat by a Camry, ouch). Even worse, picking up the Road & Track "new cars" issue and really seeing what crappy cars have more horsepower. I have also had a few people scoff at the lack of horsepower when i mention it, although i'm quick to say that it isn't slow in any sense. I really believe that a car that costs 50k+ should be closer to 300hp on the base model IMO. I am perfectly happy with the 530i and rarely need all it. =)

I think it's ok. If given the chance to choose again, I'd spend more for 550i.

i drove about 3 530s and 3 525s before i bought the 525i. The power was not that much different. Sure it does not have the v8 power kick but then again i needed a sedated sedan, so for my needs the 525i was perfect. I chose is based on options the car had vs. the engine. With the right option, i could have chosen either a 530 or 525i. If gas was still under 3$ and wasn't rising faster than the world's population - i would have surely gotten a 545i or 550i.
525i - gets the job done. A little lack of power with few people in the car and luggage, but nothing that one can't live without.
528I - Almost as good as the 530 IMHO with only 15 less pones or so i think
530i- is a better and solid engine.
535i- TT is where it is at. nice solid engine with no lags.
545i- nice!
550- Sweet
M5- HOLLLA, CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG!

My Ride: Silver/Grey E60
I have an 04 525i. Then again I got it beacuse I got a good deal and it was a CPO car.
Is it underpowered for a E60? Probably
Trust me, I get more compliments in my 525i then I probably would in a 300hp lexus or Audi. AND not to mention with these gas prices I dont mind the great MPG's I get in my 525.
My solution was a Sprint Booster and 166's rims to get over the lack in power. If it won't go.. then make it SHOW!

+1, it doesn't have as much power as my last car, but I don't race so its not that big of a deal. I get alot of compliments in in as well in my 04 525.
