Got my car back from Dingolfing on Thursday after two weeks of repair. Missed it really, they gave me 530d E61 fully loaded but with M Package
The guys did a fantastic job. The engine is running smooth as silk almost not noticable in idle, during drive no "diesel" sound anymore and much improved acceleration.

They changed the high pressure pump to the new modified model that is available now and has a NEW and different spare part number as well as they upgraded the software. In total they changed three of twenty on-board computers, the hp pump, the air induct, the variable air induct and the electric generator as well as some smaller parts inside.

Freude am Fahren is back now.

Thanks for the update Bernd, I had an early LCI 523i which had a cylinder injector failure and finally a fuel pump failure. I got a new one - built in the last week of August which has started to develop the uneven idle problem which was a precursor to problems I had with the first LCI - so I am a little worried now..

I spoke to the helpful service manager at my dealer last week who booked it in for next week for a software update (based on info from one of your previous emails - thanks!). He said that as of last week that there wasn't a revised fuel pump design so based on your update I'm hoping that the dealer/BMW will agree to fit the new fueld pump design soon - without me havng to wait for my car to die....
