Hey Lovelies

I am looking at a 520Dsport. Becuase I read here about the 530d consumption figures...which were quite low.

Questions for you

1. What is your best MPG and worst? Lets list

2. I was impressed with the torque and quietness does this stay the same after 60k miles?

HELLLLPPPP

Lots of love

Welcome to the forum.

If you are ordering new and can wait till September the power and the fuel consumption of the new 520d engine will be improved.

Worst I had from my 520d SE was 32mpg, best was just under 50mpg. These engines get better with age. Just got my new 520d M Sport and mixed driving I am averaging 43mpg which is better than than my old SE would have done. My M Sport has 19" wheels with non RFT tyres so maybe thats why fuel consumption is better.

Care to explain?

I thought that since rolling resistance was less with RFTs (stiffer sidewalls) that RFTs had better fuel efficiency...

These are really good figures....

I cannot buy new in Sept , buying new cars is a mugs game, says he who has just lost 20k GBP on a mercedes devaluation.

I need some more figs and comments too. IE Do you like the torque , how can such a big car have so much torque when my 2.2 engine with the mercedes was so gutless. I dont get it... A little torque and good fuel consumption also sounds all a bit too good to be true????

Not an expert but don't RFT's weigh more? was not aware that RFTs had a lower rolling resistance, thought they were no better or even worse than standard tyres, maybe an expert will be along soon to answer this.

31mpg all day long in mostly urban driving. Am amazed to hear about late 30s up to 50 averages and can only assume this is on 99% clear motorway. I am happy with 31 as my previous 318ci avgd 28 and was smaller and gutless.

The 520d can best be summed up as absolutely adequate. It won't leave you wanting if driven properly but will never provide the wows a 530d will on acceleration. Having said that in Ireland excessive performance ability is useless on our crowded over policed roads so the value and economy combined with the comfort, looks and quality feel of the 520d makes it a great choice.
