It could be. But mercedes and audi also have 4 cilinder petrol engines in those car while bmw doesn't have that too..

You can be sure that the 520d is going to be sold.
Some markets like Portugal, Italy, Greece,...., have high taxes in big engines so the answer to this question is to sell smaller engines ( the E39 was available with the 2.0d with 130 PS/136 PS).

The question is:

Will the engine have 150 PS (like in the X3 2.0d starting sales in September) or 163 PS (like in 1 Series also in September) ?????

If it gets 150 PS i think the competition will have the same or more power and if it gets 163 PS it will get to near of the 525d........

Let's wait and see.... but you can bet that is going to be sold.

An interesting one, you would think it would be a logical thing to do. But BMW resisted the temptation on the E39, and there were a few years overlap where the 2litre diesel from the 3 series would have been available.

So maybe they won't after all!

Wait and see.
BMW won't let Mercedes E220CDi and the new Audi A6 2.0 TDi (September) make all the sales.....
