Goodness knows what speed he was doing but last Sunday whilst we were stationary 2nd in line at a junction (wife driving) a guy in a Ford hit us HARD (looking for the aiport directions. He demolished his front bumper.

My bodyshop and I are having difficulty in spotting ANY damage - even to the paint! If I get round to it I may post a pic of the "accident".

ABC
same here this happen in my E46 too not a srach, but the other car the bummper fell off.

I don't think I'm going out to buy a Kia Optima real soon. Just remember they have to catch you to rear end you

And the number 1 rule... the best injury protection system in the first place is the ability to avoid the injury... rather the accident... and there's not much out there that can "avoid" an accident better than a BMW... ya try avoiding an "injury" when you flip over in your Kia Optima...

Most rear end collisions happen when you are stationary, BMW will not help you in that situation. Now that the standard seats/headrests have been proved to be dangerous ( as well as pointlessly far away from your head to be of any use at all ) perhaps BMW will redesign them properly. Rather than using rubbish standard seats, to prise more money out of you for 'comfort' seats. Surely comfort/safety should be near the top of the list for any seat!!

I have a 2004 BMW 325i Sedan. I was in a parking lot when a brand new 550i backed into me. My front bumper was fine with a tiny scratch, but his rear bumper was bad, it had cracked and was almost falling off.

You dont really think that bmw crashed 2 e60's with both of their seat options to prove how safe the 5 is? We all know that the 5 series is not the best safety wise and has not bee since the moment it came on sale in 2003. When tested it could only manage a 3 star rating initially. However at the request of BMW in 2004 they retested after re engineering certain components so that they could save face with a 4 star rating. BET THEY DIDN'T RECALL ALL THE CARS THEY SOLD IN 2003 AND FOR FIRST 6 MONTHS OF 2004 COS THEY WERE WORRIED ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS AND THEIR 3 STAR CARS? Not great considering e class has 5 stars. This proves to me that BMW dont take the safety of their vehicles seriously

The 5 series that scored poorly were those fitted with the standard and sport seats. Comfort seats performed fine.
