As per website
"Head restraints in several passenger vehicles provided marginal or poor protection against neck injuries and whiplash, the insurance industry reported on Thursday in new crash test results.
Only 22 of 75 vehicles tested in a simulated rear crash at 20 miles per hour received the top score of good from the Virginia-based Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
Several 2007 vehicles got the lowest score of poor in the tests. The vehicles include:
Acura TSX
BMW 5 Series
Buick Lacrosse and Lucerne
Cadillac CTS, STS and DTS
Chevrolet Aveo
Pontiac Grand Prix
Honda Accord and Fit
Hyundai Accent
Infiniti M35
Jaguar X-Type
Kia Rio
Mitsubishi Galant
Toyota Avalon, Corolla
Suzuki Forenza and Reno
The institute estimates that neck injuries account for 2 million insurance claims annually costing at least $8.5bn.
Among the top vehicles for head protection, according to the Institute's testing, were the:
Audi A4, A6 and S4
Chevrolet Cobalt
Ford Five Hundred and Mercury Montego
Hyundai Sonata
Jaguar S-Type
Kia Optima
Mercedes E-Class
Nissan Sentra, Versa
Saab 9-3
Subaru Impreza, Outback, Legacy
Volvo S40, S60, S80
Honda Civic 2-door and 4-door versions
Volkswagen Beetle "

Goodness knows what speed he was doing but last Sunday whilst we were stationary 2nd in line at a junction (wife driving) a guy in a Ford hit us HARD (looking for the aiport directions. He demolished his front bumper.
My bodyshop and I are having difficulty in spotting ANY damage - even to the paint! If I get round to it I may post a pic of the "accident".

The 5 series that scored poorly were those fitted with the standard and sport seats. Comfort seats performed fine.
Ya Thats what I remembered... one of the 3 seats were fine and the other 2 was like break my neck now...
Was it the Premium seat head rests that did good? DOH! I knew I should have spent that extra $1200!

....I'm so with EBMCS03! I hate the fact that my sport seat headrests cannot tilt forwad like all the other old bimmers I've had. (Besides the fact that both aren't working well right now...maybe I just need some WD40?) ....Shoulda gone for the Comfort package
