Default 5 series GT washer failure - not motor, filter or pipes blocked - help !

Hi - I am really hoping someone can help me with this one

I have a 2010 5 series GT and the washers keep losing pressure

I've been and had the motor changed, all filters cleaned and the pipes replaced

The washers worked well when I collected the car this afternoon but within 2 hours the pressure has reduced back to a dribble that doesn't hit the screen

Has anyone else experienced this and/or have any ideas how to fix it without taking it to a BMW main dealer ?

Thanks in advance

Our X5 had that problem. The washers would always work the first few uses then not at all. Fixed it by drilling a small hole in the cap after discovering it worked after popping the cap off. Seems the pump (which had been changed) couldn't overcome the vacuum buildup in the tank. Worth popping the cap at the 2 hour mark?

Thanks for the reply - have had the top off the washer bottle to make sure it was full, and this would have released the vacuum and they still don't work :-(

Any other ideas please ?

there is a hose thats comes off the tank to allow pressure to equalize. may want to check that.

I know you say the filters were cleaned, but if theres a sludge buildup in the tank they block again fast. they are part of the rubber grommet which holds the pump in, not a plesant job to do but within the realms of anyone with common sence.

Wife also has an X5....I had to change the pump once. I did notice there is an air intake molded into the tank. Perhaps that is clogged or obstructed somehow?

It was sludge in the tank - had the entire tank taken out, cleaned and all the pipes blown - problem solved :-)

Thanks for the responses
