Was listening to the radio and driving today, all of sudden the radio turns off while my idrive screen flickers and I receive an AWD malfunction. It's Sunday so I couldn't call my SA, I'm guessing my battery is dead since I can't even turn on the car after parking it back home. Anyone know the cause? Thanks!

Sorry, I have no idea how to rotate the photos!

I'm 95% sure this is a low battery charge problem. The same exact thing happened to me and it was my battery being extremely low. Have you tried restarting your car? Also has the car been driving weird and out of whack (shifting weird, low power, low torque, etc.)? When this happened to me my area was being pounded by a massive snow storm so driving to my SA was one of the scariest things I have done.

Now that you mention it the car did lack some power. Did you recharge the battery or went with a new one? I tried restarting the car but not even the doom lights turn on, so I'll give it a jump start later. Glad to hear you were okay! How much is a new battery anyway? Can I purchase a battery and change it myself (ie: is there anything to reset)?

When I took it in it was the typical "Don't drive enough to recharge battery" from the SA. I didn't need a change in battery, but the sold my the "Official BMW battery charger". So every 3-4 weeks I pop the hood and plug it into the wall and leave it overnight. The only way to tell if the battery is bad vs low charge is to get your battery tested.
