I figure if most the labor is being paid for i will spring for the additional components to give me piece of mind.

i doubt they'll replace the hoses. and its not a bad idea to change the oil.

Do you have full maintenance history for this car? I would look at it to see what else needs to be addressed. At 90k miles is where the real maintenance starts if the car was following just the recommended BMW service guidelines. FYI, your engine rough engine displacement is indicated by the model. 530 - 3.0 liter, 545 - 4.5 liter, etc... From that we can deduct if it's a I6 or V8. But coming from the E39 you probably already know this. Good luck with your car.

Can someone chime in, as I'm also new to the E60 chassis, but battery issues should not affect the power while driving, can they? The alternator at this point is proving the juice. Heads up display fading? You are aware that wearing polarized sun-glasses will cause display 'fading' depending on how the glasses are oriented. (took me couple of days to notice that) Losing power to me indicates that the car was already overheating and the ECU was reducing the throttle to save the engine. You should also see a warning on your cluster telling you to shut off the engine.

I remember looking at carfax and car was maintained at every interval and at the same dealership. i actually asked for a copy of the past records today just to have in my file to refer to. well i obviously got the wp and thermostat done now and new coolant... had them do oil as well. at 100k im do for brakes and spark plugs. tranny fluid? some say never, some say replace. what else should be checked or performed?
