Yep that is right.

My 545i I've hit 30MPG a few times. Usually I'm always around 28.2 to 29.2 going about 70 to 75MPH.

WHAAAAAATTTT????

Even with hwy driving for over 70K miles, Ive never hit those numbers over three years. Best Ive seen is close to 24-25MPG...so what gives?????

08 528i which is about 2 months old. I took my first long trip yesterday. Granted, I reset the mpg just before getting on the (Pa) Turnpike because I wanted to see true highway mpg. I never thought it would be this high - I'm really impressed especially since I also have an 06 M35x in which my max highway mpg ranges about 23-25. Can this really be a true reading (I know - if I want a REAL reading I should do the math based on gallons used). Anyway, just curious what others think.

I have a 2008 528xi now with about 15,000 miles I recently went to Notre Dame (South Bend, Indiana) from Wisconsin(near Lake Geneva) and got 30.2 MPG . I use premium (no ethanol). I also have taken a trip to Jacksonville, Illinois (about 500 miles round trip) and averaged 29.2 MPG. I calculate MPG by dividing miles driven by actual gas used. Overall I get about 23-24 MPG in a mix of city and highway driving. It would be nice to get a diesel though. I am sure you could get in the high 30's in MPG on the ighway!!!

The iDrive usually gives a bit better measure that the real fact is but...

The 528i has a more modern engine than a '05 525iA has and this was the mpg I got a few years back cruising on a freeway at 140 km/h or 87 mph -> 28,3 mpg.

My current 520dA gives me easily 45 mpg on longer trips but the average is now 35.1 mpg (calculated with trip/actual gallons fueled).

Yep, ain't it great? When I had my stock 225/17s, I once got around 33. When I put the fatter, staggered 124s on it dropped a bit, but still comes in at about 30 (+ or -). And I have verified this by fill-up/miles calculation in addition to the computer, so it's no false reading. It might be off a bit, but not much. I'm still amazed that a car this size can do so well on the highway. City...well...that's another story.

I've never got less then 25MPG on the HWY. Weather I did it by calc. or by the computer. On any long cruise I always get over 400 miles to a tank. Mostly in the 430 area plus. When I fill up its always right around 16 gallons give or take about 3/10ths of a gallon. Usually always works out between 26 and 27MPG. Computer will read about 28MPG. In Wisconsin are HWY's are usually pretty flat and not alot of traffic. So many times you can just cruise at 75MPH for 100 miles and maybe only have to slow down a couple times for traffic. I can see driving on much more congested roads that you would loose a couple MPG quite easily.

Even on a quiet spirited trip of about three hours this summer I still got about 25.5 MPG. Computer said 27.X. Lots of time going over 80MPH with many slow downs and speed ups.
