I just installed some Sumitomo HTR ZIII's in 275/30/20 on some Avant Garde M310's 20x10 20mm offset. The rears looked pretty stretched. The wheel lip protrudes and there is zero rim protection from the tire. Is it supposed to look like that for a 275 width tire?
I'm starting to think maybe the Sumitomo brand has a more narrow 275 tire than norm. Either that or 275 width in general is too narrow for the M310's. If I change the tires to a 285, will I run into any rubbing issues? I'm on oem sport suspension.

it depends on the brand. i had 285/30/20 on my 20X10 wheels and it protruded past the wheel lip. so there was a lot of wheel protection, but i couldn't get the stance i wanted even with rolled fenders.

Maybe try changing the brand of tire. That might help. Going 285 would likely do the trick, but it might rub if your rolling on sport suspension or lowered

ASpec818 : I'm running Sumitomo HTR ZIII's 285/30/20 on a 20X10 wheel w no issues. I have 07 525i sport suspension myself. my wheels are 30ET and I added a 10MM spacer too.

also, do you have any pics of the lip and tire? Do the tires protect the rim a little better?

yes sir. u are correct. the final ET is 20mm. Did not have roll my finders. I can get u some pictures and yes my rim is protected much more than urs. but again it's the tire we are using, it does not have a great lip (rim protector) to begin w. when I get out of work it will be too dark. I will take some pictures tomorrow and post.

Thanks! That definitely looks more "normal". Your tires don't look as stretched. I might try to exchange my tires for some 285's.

Looks good. Before this thread I was debating on switching from 275 to 285 on the rear as well. I would roll the fenders first though just to make sure. I do like the more "tire" over the rim.
