As a subscriber of Auto, Motor und Sport (D) I recall an article last autumn about the next 5-series. As I understand it, some of the design elements shown on the picture in this tread will be in (in some way or another), but basically what BMW wanted to be siphoned out of the otherwise closed boardroom is that next 5-series will be an evolution of the current one.
And that there will continue to be a clear discernable difference between the different series; personally I believe the guy who did this pic was a bit too influenced of the E92.

There are a number of "next generation" pictures floating around from various manufacturers that show a possible trend towards 4dr saloons having more of a coupe look. The picture above to me looks more coupe like than the current 5er. VW are bringing out a coupe version of their passat (zzzzz) and Benz already have the CLS.
Maybe BMW will also go for this coupe style trend...
As long as they do not make the 5er as bland as the current 3er (E90), that's ok with me. I currently can't afford to upgrade to a 7er!

They won't go back to all cars looking the same (same mold just different sizes). Part of Bangle's design was every car is "unique".

Just came across this information while googling. Looks interesting especially the pics. What are your comments?
But it's too early to say yet.
Still 3 years and that's a long time.
It may have even more radical changes that we can imagine.
