I've scoured the Web here and other forums. Unfortunately searching on 'E60' and 'AUX' produces a ton of results for how to add AUX, costs, etc. I have none of those problems. My USB AUX audio works great... except....
I have a 128Gb SanDisk in my center console, 9 out of 10 times when I park the car, get out, come back in, it has forgotten that it was switched to the AUX input. Sometimes it forgets the SanDisk is attached to AUX. Once I "remind" it, it picks right up where it left off, mid song, etc. DRIVES ME NUTS. Usually it defaults to Weather Band. As a shortcut I programmed the diamond button on the steering wheel to switch to the 'next' input, and that moves it to AUX, but again, that's clunky.
I brought the issue up to my dealer when I had it in for the faulty-PCV-valve-might-burn-your-house-down recall and they were of no help. Claimed my model car didnt support USB audio. OK Then !
EDIT: At least one other person has had this problem (proof I searched !)

I've scoured the web too because my 2010 528i seems to be a unicorn. From what I can tell I have M-ASK not CCC or CIC. And the M-ASK module sort of works but won't respond to coding. My aux and usb are dead, but I can use bluetooth for phone calls, and the radio works fine.
Did you get anywhere with your annoyance?

Interesting, I had always thought it was either CIC or CCC, but you are correct, I do not have navigation either so M-ASK is the correct designation https://smartworldcompany.com/how-to...nit-in-my-bmw/ I am hoping that a future battery replacement might be the fix.
