You have to remove the wood grain trim and it's screwed to the bottom of it wood trim piece. I'll have to look how I did it years ago. There are a lot of YouTube videos on how to though

+1
Yeah its super easy once you remove the trim piece. Buy yourself a set of plastic trim removal tools.

Thanks for the response. I had already removed the wood trim and silver piece easily, but when it came to the controller as I circled in my post, that part is not screwed down but would not come out no matter what I tried.

That part is screwed into the trim. There should be 3 or 4 T20 screws holding it in

Again, thanks for the responses. I've done already done all that was suggested. I've removed all the trim down to bare minimum, however, the final piece that needs to come out is the section that i circled in the photo. That piece does not have any screws, pins, or rivets holding it in. At each end of the bottom, there is 4 protruding wings that holds it in place, it;s loose but it will not come out of the housing. I'm not sure if there is a special procedure needed to get this piece out.

Did you buy the car used? That may play a part in why it doesn't disassemble normally. Can you upload a photo of what it looks like around the iDrive controller from the bottom.

I really appreciate all the hjelp. Attached is the type of controller in my car. At the points indicated in blue are elongated thongs ( ot screwed in or down) but because of these thongs, the iDrive controller will not come out.

That definitely looks like a job for trim removal tools.
