Really bad photoshop! Headlights of the Lexus ES... Hood of the Honda Accord... Rear lights of a BMW 3er....

FYI, the picture is a photoshop disaster, and definitely will *not* be what the f10 will look like.

Notice that the mirrors aren't even the same.
They haven't even been bothered to finish the bonnet (hood) shut line either! With this lack of attention to obvious details I don't think we can rely on any degree of accuracy of the whole design to what will be the eventual reality.

This is pointless because no one knows what the next 5er looks like. It won't be out for another 3 years. Heck, the new 7 is coming out next year and no one has a definite idea of what it will look like.

I totally agree its a photochop and a bad one at that. I'd bet that the F10 will be an evolution of the E60 but with some cleaner lines such as in the 3. Recall how close the E39 looked to the E36 from the back?

I too have moved from the E39 to the E60. The E39 will be a long time classic (especially in M5 trim) even though its no longer "modern" looking. I don't think the E60 will ever be considered classic (but maybe revolutionary). I've warmed up to its lines, especially with a sport package, but there are a few odd angles and cut lines (not unlike LOTs of modern styling) that just can't be considered "classic" styling.

anyone know what the model designation will be ?
First of all, it looks way to similar to 3er. BMW is not going to make 5er look like 3. Everyone must be able to tell that this is 5, not 3 at a single glance. Same as 7er owner does not want to be seen as driving 5er. Showing that you are driving higher end model is very important for many BMW owners.

However, F10 may get some 3-ish treatment since 3er design had better success with magazines and reviews. It will still be Bangle design, nothing dramatic, more like evolution from E60 but different enough. Most probably tail will be redone since it is the part that receives most negative feedback. Front lights will probably look less like 'flame'
