This is pointless because no one knows what the next 5er looks like. It won't be out for another 3 years. Heck, the new 7 is coming out next year and no one has a definite idea of what it will look like.

I too have moved from the E39 to the E60. The E39 will be a long time classic (especially in M5 trim) even though its no longer "modern" looking. I don't think the E60 will ever be considered classic (but maybe revolutionary). I've warmed up to its lines, especially with a sport package, but there are a few odd angles and cut lines (not unlike LOTs of modern styling) that just can't be considered "classic" styling.

However, F10 may get some 3-ish treatment since 3er design had better success with magazines and reviews. It will still be Bangle design, nothing dramatic, more like evolution from E60 but different enough. Most probably tail will be redone since it is the part that receives most negative feedback. Front lights will probably look less like 'flame'
