LOL... Seriously though you make a mistake recoding, you are temporarily ****ed. So I took enough care to do it right and made a backup of the modules I mess with often. I was not born in 83 so the only DOS commands I am aware or used to be aware were to play games.. !!! But there is always an easier way if thought of earlier. I knew I would need those files sometime or the other so I made a backup. Learnt this the hard way while playing around with custom ROMs on my phone. When you have no phone while on business travel you learn to think outside the box for sure..!!!

Wow, that's quite and exercise.
Remember in 1983 when we would play with Microsoft DOS and execute EDLIN commands?
It was an insane time.
Steve Job said, there's an easier way.
Similarly, I can't believe we are still working with NCS and the Steve Jobs of the BMW world hasn't figured out there's an easier way.

If you are talking about the wires in the headlight unit itself I do not think that is an issue with me. I have recently rewired the whole thing when I did a Switchback angel eyes upgrade. So this has to be some other problem. I did not even bother checking it for now since it happened while I was holding the stick and on off road, I think I might have pulled on the stick in some weird angle or something. I hope it was a one time occurrence...

I am not sure if that is even possible. Mine should be the rare case then because the stalk is connected to the module by a pin style connector and its held in place by 3 torx. Not sure if that got damaged or the circuit board has corrosion...!!!

Anything mechanical will eventually break and solder joints get old. Nothing lasts forever. Like I said, just keep recoding it until you can't.

damn... never thought about it.. My E46 was a built like a rock. I guess the building quality went downhill since e60. I am planning to get my E46 back as my daily driver and the E60 as a backup.. Getting a bit hectic dealing with all the electrical gremlins on this. My E46 did not have a single electrical problem and was fully loaded with adaptive lighting and everything was working when I sold it with over 200k miles... damn reliable car. drove like dream... miss it though..
