i did mine in the yard. we just put on a hose and let it go into a bottle. then removed the compressor. didnt have to remove the fan or anything. took a little finesse but got it done. took it to a local ac had em vacuum and fill and all was fine.
i have an electrical gremlin now with my AC we are trying to figure out but thats another story lol.

I brought the car to Kaane this past Saturday. Awesome guy with a lot of cool knowledge on past and present car projects. His 535i is what I was hoping to make mine into one of these days (FBO). I figured I would share how we got the compressor replaced in case someone out there does a forum search like I did, to try and figure out how to replace it themselves. We were able to slide the compressor out the back to remove it. He had to remove the BMS dual cone intake of course. The stock charge pipe with diverter valves, and loosen the front turbo inlet from the block. One of the AC lines from the passenger side connection to the condenser to the compressor was completely removed which took some finese. The upper radiator cover shield was removed but the fan stayed in. The lower intercooler pipe was also removed. The AC drier was accessable from the top on the driver side near the radiator, but it was stuck in there, so we left it not to risk breaking the condenser. I hadn't lost any ac refrigerant, and my compressor didn't really show any signs of being broken once it was out of the car, however the AC now blows cold and the horrible pulley/clutch rattle is gone. Before it had sounded like it was going to explode when the AC was on.
Thanks again Kaane and I hope this helps someone in the future!
