Also, if I had to pay for the vehicle, is it best to trade now or wait till next year. Which car depriciates faster?

My educated guess on the value of the M5 is $52K-$54K and the 550i at about the same. only prob is, if you try and trade with the dealer, you will prolly be looking to add $4-$5K plus your car.

The prices on both are falling like rocks. Also, ask yourself if you really want to own the M5 outside of factory warranty? IMO, I would keep the 550i instead of taking depreciation hit.

good luck

No one knows. The M5's are all still in warranty. However, BMW is not CPO'ing them.

The M5's are referred to on BMW's website on the CPO page....so maybe things have changed.

M5s came with NAV I believe (it was never an option) and they can now be CPOd.

That said, I think it is about a straight up trade - neither car is holding its value too well today.

I just talked to the guy and he wanted 57.8k for the m5 but it is not CPO'd. They are willing to offer me upper 40's for my vehicle without looking at it. I told him I am willing to spend at most 4k to be in the m5. What do you think? Would this be a fair deal?

As well as ask yourself if you want to be at the gas station 2 - 3 times a week! I'd keep the 550i. Come 2011, you'll still be under warranty (assuming you bought in '07.) Come 2011 in the M5, you'll be sweating bullets at the impending bill everytime you even think something is abnormal. Not to mention you have the nicer LCI interior now.
