I've managed around 27K miles on conti's (172's) which I thought was low mileage for wearout but 12K... damn that must have been some 'spirited' driving
I'm looking for replacements and considering the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric which are around ?185 a piece. The conti's are nearly ?240 each!!!
Anyone care to comment on the Goodyear's...?
The Bridgestone Pole Positions will be my only choice when/if I need new tires.

Wontons! That's a great descriptor!

While checking the air pressure in my Continentals today [2008 550i], I noticed that the rear tyres are already at the wear bars...

...I was a bit surprised because they don't have that many miles on them! (12000mi)

My front tyres, however, seem to have plenty of tread on them.

Are other people having this same experience/wear pattern?

(This will be the last time I will use the spelling "tyres". I'm an Anglophile, and I just had to get it out of my system.)

I dont think tires should be replaced that quick. However, a manager at our SC plant had to pay to replace the back tires on his 550i sedan, because he wore them out the 13,000 miles he put on the car. Way too many burnouts!

I appreciate the humor, but I don't believe I have driven this car any more aggressively than my previous BMW's--which never had such a discrepancy between the front and rear tire wear. (I don't do burnouts.)

There are two different sets of tires on this vehicle--the rear and front tires aren't the same. That's the way it shipped...

I'll be more cognizant of my driving style with the next set of tires, but I don't think it's due to aggressive cornering or takeoff...

Have the Bridgestone's been good for you though?

I had my left rear go down the other day with 19K miles on it. I guess the runflat helped me keep control of it. The tread had begun to separate on the inside edge. Very disappointing tire wear. What I did find out (after I limped her home 20 miles at 20 mph) was that I do have a compact spare. I thought I had read that if you came equipped with runflats, you didn't have a spare. Oh well. Now that I know I have a spare, I might go for the PS2s.
