While checking the air pressure in my Continentals today [2008 550i], I noticed that the rear tyres are already at the wear bars...

...I was a bit surprised because they don't have that many miles on them! (12000mi)

My front tyres, however, seem to have plenty of tread on them.

Are other people having this same experience/wear pattern?

(This will be the last time I will use the spelling "tyres". I'm an Anglophile, and I just had to get it out of my system.) :)

Sadly, that's the tradeoff for great BMW handling. BMW rear camber specs are -2 degrees for the 550 sport the last I had an alignment done. My 19'' Potenza RE050A Pole Positions lasted 18000 miles at the rear. The fronts are only 1/3 worn and will last about another 20000 miles!

Stop doing burn outs at every traffic light!

those the factory tires with the sport package/172's? If so, those considered under warranty? No wheel/tire insurance? I know here in Cali they stopped offering that....

I'm getting a re-alignment done this week...it does seam like I buy 2 sets of rears in the time it takes to wear out the fronts! :o

Now I ask you, Did you enjoy every moment of ripping your rear tires to shreds???? So, go get another pair of tires and repeat!! WooooooHooooooooooooooooooo!!

I've managed around 27K miles on conti's (172's) which I thought was low mileage for wearout but 12K... damn that must have been some 'spirited' driving :)
I'm looking for replacements and considering the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric which are around ?185 a piece. The conti's are nearly ?240 each!!!
Anyone care to comment on the Goodyear's...?
