Hi,

Been waiting for months - actually had to put my 2004 330i on lease extension - because I wanted to order the 2008 535i in manual... does anyone know if this can be ordered at the dealership yet?

Thanks much!

As far as I know, they will be available for September 2007 production. Unless I'm out of the loop on something, there's no reason I can see why a dealer couldn't place the order any time for a September production car.

My last two cars were ordered well before the transmission option was available (SMG and SAT) but clearly they didn't start production until the option was available...

The dealer was not able to order it when I went to order the car back in January/February, even though he had configurable inventory of 2008 535's... so I thought perhaps you had to be closer to production before it would allow configuration of an allocation to include that feature.

At this point, you can't get much closer to the production date.

If they can't order it now, I'd be surprised...

535i manual should be a lot of fun.

Have you actually driven a new 5 series with manual tranmission? My wife's recently departed (long story) 530XiT was not very impressive (to me) with a 6 speed manual. It was a bit notchy but then it only had 2K miles on it when we turned it in. Maybe it needed more time to loosen up. It also seemed a bit out of place on a fairly large and heavy wagon. Maybe a manual trans would be better suited to a sedan.

Many years back, she had a 93' 325i, which was a blast to drive with a manual transmission. I couldn't imagine having it with an automatic.

Just my .02...

Dealers have recieved allocation for September Production, so yes you place your order for a 535i 6-Speed.
