Hello,

I've seen these forums about the idrive/CCC unit. Scary stuff. My idrive has decided to reset about every 10 minutes. It fully resets and all function minus the stereo. The car is 20 days out of warranty (awesome)

Question: What can I expect to pay for a CCC unit? Is this a dealer only problem or can I go to another type of provider. Anyone know someone in the San Diego area? If not, I will put a tool box on the gas pedal and launch this thing off a cliff. LOL ish

I've heard:
-failing electronics alternator?
-Loose cable?
-Module?

Any insight would help.

Thank you for reading

You are not the first, definitely won't be the last. If you plan on keeping the car you should consider a upgrade to CIC.

Hello and thank you for the reply.

Where did you buy your CCC unit? What do you know about a CIC upgrade?

I'm in So Cal. Did you do the bumper cover and side skirts yourself? I would like to see and image of your car. I'm thinking of tweaking a bit to

I have just had my CCC replaced. I am in the UK but I updated the thread here to show how much it cost.

Sure, I'll attach a pic of my car from the last SLO meet we had. As for the CCC unit, I am getting it here: Bavarian They have mixed reviews, but so did everyone else I checked out. Just remember to get it checked by an indy mechanic (if you're in SoCal I'd suggest Southbay Autohaus in Hawthorne), then if the CCC unit IS bad the get the correct part # you need by giving your VIN # to your dealer - there are several versions of CCC and they are specific to your build date.

P.S. All the exterior work to my car, except wheels, was done by Trinity Autosport, they are local so if you're interested contact member Nerweezy

Thank you for the reply. I wonder if I should get a new CIC unit instead?

Your car looks good!

Can anyone tell me why I would not want to put in a CIC upgrade instead of getting the CCC fixed? Would this not be a better option than getting a used one from: bmrparts.com

This unit is $1500: BMW e60 e61 e63 e64 CIC navigation HDD iDrive navi
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...TQ:MOTORS:1123

Who can program this in So Cal?

What about the trim piece for the new Idrive knob? Where would I get this unit.

Thank you for reading.
