My Ride: 2007 530i. sports package :]

Hi guys, I would love to get your valuable input on this topic.
I currently own a 2007 530i and I'm almost about to reach 80k on my vehicle. Obviously it is off warranty, but I can still qualify for BMW's extended powertrain warranty (80k is cutoff!). I fear that one day my car may have an expensive problem, and I would hate to not have gotten this extended warranty. So my question would be: Is the 530i reliable enough? For those of you with higher mileages, how were your experiences? Thanks in advance!

I wouldn't dare own a BMW that did not have some type of warranty as long as I was making payments on it. Different story if I had the title. That's just my opinion....

before you dump money into a warranty you need to be very sure what it will and will NOT cover and unfortunately dealing with BMW NA their CPO warranty doesnt get very specific and for a reason, warranty denial and grey areas of speculation to deny coverage
know what you are buying before you buy it or create a maintenance fund instead

Just crossed 80k. Thought of the BMW powertrain warranty, but I think you can only get it for 1 year at this point. And it's over 2K. Not worth IMO.
Think about it, will your powertrain really fail that soon? You know your car better than us here.

First of all, here's the details:
According to the website, BMWs with less than 80k can qualify for the "Powertrain Plus" Warranty extension:
1-year/12,000 miles
2-years/24,000 miles
3-years/36,000 miles
Details:
Powertrain Plus covers the major components on your
vehicle and offers protection against many major mechanical
breakdowns.
Engine:
Cylinder head(s) and cylinder block. All internally lubricated parts
including: pistons, piston rings and pins; crankshaft, main and
connecting rod bearings; connecting rods; camshaft and bearings;
timing chains and/or belts; sprockets; rocker arms and shafts; valves,
valve springs, upper spring plates (retainers); valve collets, guides,
and seats; hydraulic valve clearance compensators (lifters); oil pump
assembly. Dipstick assembly; vibration damper; flywheel/ring gear;
upper and lower timing case covers; intake and exhaust manifolds;
engine mounts; valve cover(s); oil pan.
Automatic/Standard Transmission including Sequential
Manual Gearbox (SMG) and Dual Clutch Transmission
(DCT):
Transmission case, torque converter, all internally lubricated parts
contained within the transmission case including: all sprockets,
shaft bearings, bushings, drums, pumps and valves. Transmission
mount; flywheel; drive plate for torque converter. Coverage is
not afforded for standard/SMG/DCT transmission clutch
assemblies, which are subject to wear and tear.
Final Drive Assembly, Propeller Shaft(s):
Final drive housing; all internally lubricated parts contained within
the final drive housing including: all sprockets, bearings and output
shafts; CV joints; universal joints; front and rear hub assembly, hub
bearings; propeller shafts.
Transfer case (xDrive vehicles only):
Transfer case, all internally lubricated parts contained within the
transfer case including: all sprockets, shaft bearings, bushings,
drums, pumps and valves. Transfer case mounts.
Electrical:

solenoid; engine control module; engine and transmission control
modules.
Cooling System:
Water pump; radiator; fan clutch; coolant recovery tank; additional
fan motor.

I do understand there's alot missing for a warranty, but it does cover the powertrain. I guess my real question then is, is the 530i reliable enough when maintained well? or is there an overwhelming number of horror stories that I am unaware of, which would make even a warranty such as this be well worth it?
