Default 2006 E61 Remote FCC ID?

Guys,

Having just purchased the car above, I'd like to get a couple of replacement remote keys - car came with only one!

The plastic case is so worn I cannot read the FCC ID from it. Is there some way to divine this identifier? This car does not have the remote start (Comfort?) feature.

I'm hoping to buy a couple of 'virgin' keys from one of the internet suppliers, believing I can do the quick-reprogram-in-car-method, since I have the original key. Can many (non-dealership) key shops cut the physical key?

Is the whole plan crazy? Thanks in advance.

Dealership is the only sure fire way. Or somebody that actually has the equipment to blank a key. I doubt those people are on ebay selling the key for 10 bucks though.

Thanks for your reply... No, certainly was going to try the eBay shot-in-the-dark approach. And I'm not trying to 'blank' a key; I see that this is a can of worms.

There is a seemingly pretty for-real vendor selling 'virgin' OEM keys out there. Does anybody know Keyless Remote Warehouse: Keyless Remotes | Key Fob Replacement | Keyless Remote Warehouse ??

Does the click-hold-three-click approach work with an E60/61 key?

I would try price shopping a few dealerships. Some have said the dealer will sell a key for $250. For $50 dollars more I'd take a guaranteed brand new key.

On buying from the site I've never heard of them, but I've heard that when a blank key is inserted into the car the car will automatically program it. I recommend doing a search on here to get more concrete info.
