Possibly, but that filter is inside the housing, and the ring may have slipped out of place when you pulled the filter out. Didn't you see anything else? Was the filter cap tight? Drain plug tight?

Everything was tight. I didn’t see any oil leaking around alternator bracket also. I remember when it first happened I saw oil running down the side of oil filter cap

Well then, your only option at this point is put a new oil filter in and re-fill the oil. Then start the engine and check for leaks. That said, it's possible the filter cap is cracked and you can't see it but the crack opens under pressure. Based on how much came out and how fast, I don't see what else it would be. Do you have the proper tool for removing the filter cover or did you use an alternate method such as water-pump pliers?

I'm pretty sure there was. These cars leak in many places. You have to figure out where yours is leaking at the time.

If it helps anyone, my massive oil loss was due to a cracked oil filter cover. Root cause for the crack unknown. This oil filter cover is 13 years old.

Not common. That is an aftermarket so it's not 13 years old

Why do you think the filter cover is not the original?
