==============

Good morning Aaron,

I am not trying to stir up as you say: "some mess", because I am not. It was just brought to my attention by some other BMW owners, that how just last April 2004, I took delivery on my brand new 2004, and then late in 2004, the next year 2005 came out as scheduled from BMW NA, {No Problem}, and now their throwing the 2006 at us in April of 2005, and if this hold true then for you then the 2007 will be out just as soon as you get your brand new 2007! (Is that what you would like to see happened to you also? If so, so be it, If you really took time to read my post I was asking what the deal was? I was totally unaware as you stated: "...this has been argued and debated before. It is what it is...no "good" justification, just so..." )

I suppose it is a good BMW business move, and if it was: "So Be it"...but just remember for what ever the reason shall be, now this new date thing has been set in motion for ones can follow.

Have a good day!

Sincerely,

R. Eddie Presley

PS,
By the way: Congratulations on your new 2006 525i to order, there is nothing I have found yet better than my new e60 BMW 530i. The genius Mr. Chris Bangle along with his BMW team really out did themselves with these new clean awesome designs.

I too am surprised that a member from as far back as Oct 04 has not seen our diatribes on this '06 model issue. Perhaps some thread reviews are in order:

and

http://forums.e60.net/index.php?showtopic=...=New+2006+Model

and

and

http://forums.e60.net/index.php?showtopic=7888&hl=

to mention but a few of the stimulating threads on the MY2006 debate.

Perhaps these will catch u up on the various sides of issue.

Goodness.

It happens. It's only a few months early. Many of the cars that the E60 is competing against in automotive press comparisons and on showroom floors are 2006 model years as well. This is a defensive measure, beefing up two models to compete as quickly as possible in time for the spring sales spurt. Heck, I bought sooner as a result - I had been expecting to have to wait until September...

The Benz E350 is a 2006 model in the US
The Infiniti M45 is a 2006 model in the US
The Lexus GS is a 2006 model in the US

Is it getting clearer?

Thank you. Crystal. I just don't understand what the objection is. Much like the "I hope they don't bring out a 550 so my car stays newer" posts. BMW has a business to run. They got to do what they got to do.

Dear E60 members:

I want to first take time and thank the e60 BMW forum members for all your responses to my topic. I have not got to this forum as much as I like to, and keep up with what's all been going on, because of my case load at work, and everything.

Even with the infomation of why the change for with the new and improved 2006 BMW 525i and 530i on today's market, no matter what the reason, we 2004 owners in the USA now own a two year old BMW, they are are some who purchases theirs less than a year ago, and one has to be concern if this move by BMW will hurt our 2004 and 2005 resale or not? :'(

In conclusion: After reading the links provided to me, I understand it is a BNW business thing, but lets just hope BMW does not exercises that right to bring in a new year model, much earlier from when BMW usually come's out with their new year models to us BMW lovers. Because we here at e60 all know the Chris Bangle and Design team e60's is one heck of a Hi-Tech Bimmer that is made for the 21st century, and with all the Bill Gates Microsoft based emerging technology that we all see and work with in our businesses, and now in our BMW automobiles, {iDrive}. There are some e 39 lovers we still have to compete with in order to keep our resale values up where they should be, and I am uncertain that BMW making these premature yearly model changes might raise doubt in a buyer's mind when we go to sell our 2004 and 2005 BMW's to them, which will force us to study more, and become better salesman to recover some of our money with our BMW investment $$$$! (Jk LOL).

Sincerely,

R. Eddie Presley

Dude..its a car...not an investment. If you're worried about resale value and model year changes, you should lease the car.

Dude:

Opinions Vary! (LOL). I am in the stock & bond market, and all my fine autos are not only excellent transportation, but are a part of my investment strategy, and has had a positive return of 9.3% over the years, {like some of my equities}.

Have a good day.

Sincerely,

R. Eddie Presley

This one's been well covered.

In the US, annual engine and transmission certifications are wildly expensive. I can't remember any model in the US that has been upgraded to a new engine/transmission combo in mid-year that has not been marketed with the next year's model designation - just to avoid another round of certification costs in a few months.

That's why the newly-engined 525 and 530 are MY2006, but the the 545 remains a MY2005. MBUSA did the same thing with the new E350 - it's a MY2006 while the E500 remains MY2005.

It may sound silly, but it's a significant cost consideration in the US.

That's exactly why this MY stuff BMW NA is doing is PURE marketing BS!

The REAL MY changeover happens in the factory, in September!
