Hi Guys,

Car in for an oil change this week and just wondered how many litres it needs? I was charged for 8 litres last time and it was ?12 plus vat and I dont fancy paying ?100 just for oil alone.

Amount of Oil needed is in the manual. Did BMW supply you the car without one.

Anyway, my 535d needed two 4ltr packs so what they charged you could be right for your car. Thing is, I bought Mobil1 ESP long life 4 and paid about ?35 for each 4ltr pack. Its a lot cheaper (and better than the stuff BMW sell you IMHO) this way and I only pay the dealer labour and for a filter.

cheers

My 530 takes about 8 litres, got Mobil 1 also. Paid about ?30 for each 4 litre container.

You are entitled to take your own oil to the garage and ask that they use that.

Top tip there. Thanks.

I also hear Costco on occasions do specials on tyres. Would be good when mine run down.

cheers

Somehow my 2005 E61DAT took 9,3 litres of oil to be almost full , checked via dipstick. 8 litres and the stick was not even getting moist..

Don?t know how its possible.. Checked again multiple times just to be sure and its still sitting a millimeter short of upper mark.

Go figure..

Isn't there are checking feature via the Idrive? I use it to tell if the oil level is ok via the graphics. Dont even know if the car as a dipstick. hehe..

530Diesel... it has the dipstick, not the idrive system, which is pity.
