Default 2006 525i Oveheating Issue AGAIN!!!

Hi Guys,
I have a 06 525i, n52 engine, which had an overheating issue back in July. I accessed the secret temp menu and watched the temps jump around anywhere from 86C to 108C and the temp moved very quickly in both directions. I figured it was the thermostat, so I swapped it out for a new one. I also replaced the temp sensor when I did the job.

I didn’t really think about it again until about 2 months later when I got another overheat warning. I shut it down for a few minutes and started driving again and didn’t see the message for another month. Now the messages that were few and far between are hitting on a daily basis. When I access the temp menu I see the same thing I saw when I replaced the thermostat back in July.

From my research on the forums, I think I have to swap out the water pump. Do you guys think it’s the water pump? Should I swap out the thermostat as well? The thermostat I replaced in July probably has 10,000 miles on it. Any more sensors or relays i may want to swap before investing in the water pump.

Any ideas?

Thanks for the help.

You can keep swapping out all kinds of things and if your luck is like mine it will be the very last thing you change. Why don't you have the codes checked and see what they point you to?
