Picked up my car end of April this year. Any idea why it does not have automatic dimming rear view mirror, as the BMW website says this is in the spec? Also how do I know if I have servotronic steering?

Automagic dimming rear view mirror belongs to Premium Package in US, I think.

Hi,

There were a few cars that escaped through the system between the end of March and May. They had some of the mods such as the new engines and new pocket beside the steering wheel but didn't have the 17" alloys and runflats (only the 16" and standard tyres) or the auto-dim mirrors. I've just ordered a 523i and it has all that crap on it.

What is the new pocket near the steering wheel?

It was originally a small open storage area not much wider than a CD case.
With the upgrade, they've replaced it with a lined drawer to stop things from sliding out when driving with modest enthusiasam.

... great place to put yr BT phone until they get around to releasing the 6230i cradle!

(It's secure, it's safe...... and I keep leaving it in the car overnight!!!)

P.S My car arrived in mid June (UK) and has the mirror dimmer which I didn't expect

Well I have the upgraded storage, but not the dimming mirror! How do I know if I have the servotronic steering, the steering feels quite light? Where there any other 2005 upgrades?
