Just got the call back from my service rep --- as many of you have suggested, the CCC was indeed shot.? This board is a tremendous resource!

However, it must be my lucky day. For some reason that even my rep Steven couldn't explain, Devon Hill BMW just happened to have a spare CCC lying around!? He indicated the the reinstallation of the new CCC has already been completed.? However, it now needs to be re-programmed and "re-programming" can take ~7-8 hours to complete.?

I accepted his offer to have Enterprise drop off a rental at my office and expect to be back in my 545 later tomorrow.? He also said that they will update the software to the latest version - he thought it would be 16.2, but would check and confirm with me later.? I have no clue which version I was running previously -- the car was manufactured in 12/04, do any of you have an idea which version would have originally been on the car?

Also, I asked about the potential conflict between RDS and Navigation and he thought that this was a non-issue --- i.e. the two can both be active at the same time.? However, he told me he would also check into this as well.

Thanks again to each of you for sharing your knowledge - it's extremely helpful to have an understanding of these things when engaging in conversations with the service centers.

It should be Version 17.1, and will have the "Perspective Navigation" with a handy icon menu to the left of the screen. Also, when you select the "Current Location" for the right screen, and program in a destination, you will automatically get the directional arrows when a change in direction is indicated. Current scuttlebutt is that RDS will not be available on Nav equipped cars in the US until the fall.

Picked car up today --- so far, everything is working great with the new CCC and software. Have the new "perspective" which I really like, but why no street names??? Very odd. Despite being told again by my service tech that the RDS would work, as indicated on this board, it does not.

Also, when the iDrive initially blew out, I took my NAV DVD out of the drive as the constant spinning noise was driving me nuts. Anyhow, I forgot to put it back in when I dropped it off for service. As the dealer could not find it, they threw in a new DVD -- 2005 v2, I had been using 2004 v2. Not sure how much difference there is between the 2, but nice to have the updated one just the same.

Thanks again for all the insight throughout.
