2005 525i Gas smell / Difficulty pumping gas
Hi all,
So I'm encountering this problem with my E60, yesterday when I went to fill up gas, I was met with resistance when pumping ,like when you are filled up and the pump stops to avoid overflow, however the car was close to empty, so I though well this is new maybe its just fumes so I went slower with the fill up and still met resistance had to go pretty slow to just put in half a tank of gas...
Today after 2 hours of driving around I get a strong gas smell coming from under the rear passenger fender area, really strong and worried me, stopped the car and after about 5 mins the smell was almost not noticeable. I will note that the smell was never present inside the cabin.
Im guessing there is an issue with the venting system not working properly causing this?
I like to work on my car myself on most things, for this I gave a ring to my indy mechanic as I have no knowledge on how the venting system for this car works yet and hes looking into it. Am I heading in the right direction with this?
Anyone deal with this first hand? Saw some threads about gas smell but didnt have the symptoms I'm encountering.
BMW where I live has sky high pricing on diags and parts, so im trying to avoid having to go to the dealer on this if at all possible.
Thanks for any insight.
