Hi there, I've just found this message board and was wondering if anyone could help me. I'm thinking of buying a 2005 (55) 530d. I think it's relatively rare, because the car has the upgraded climate control package inside and comes with a manual gear box. Most I've seen are automatic. I'd much prefer the manual, but do you think this will make it more or less desirable when I come to sell it? The car also has a tan interior, which I love - most I've seen are black, so I'm hoping this will add something when I come to sell on.

The car also has 'Bi Xenon' headlights. Do these lights come with angel eyes? I'm not sure which 5 series came with or without them.

Any help is much appreciated. Oh, and it's done 45,000 miles, FBMWSH and is on at ?15,000k. Good deal I think!

Thanks in advance,

Gavin

Sounds pretty good. I wouldn't worry about re-sale TOO much...after all your driving the car for yourself and not the next driver....there will always be someone who pays premium for manual...
The Bi-Xenons have the angel eyes

Go for it buddy,I have a 2005 530d M-sport and it's a manual,it has adaptive bi-xenon's(with angel eye's) and advanced climate,it's pretty much fully loaded,pro-nav,bluetooth,folding mirror's,etc.I love the manual as you have total control over the car, from what you have said it seem's to be a good deal, let us know how you get on.

Thanks for all the responses! It's an M Sport, though it has slightly naff 18"s which needs to be replaced!

I'm gonna look at it this week, and finances permitting, get it. I've never driven a diesel, but I'm told the 530 is quite nippy around town

Thanks for getting back to me!

Ok, you can forget it, 15 million pounds is way too much for a 5 series

if you have never driven a big diesel you in for a big surprise mate, the torque is phenomenal. Congrats and post some pics when you get it.

When you say "most are automatic" and "most have black seats", you're kind of answering your own question. That's what "most people" want. So when it comes to time to sell, your base of prospective buyers is larger if you go for an automatic with black. On the other hand, you're the one that's buying right now, and if you intend to keep the car for several years, what's better - having it how other people want so it's easier to sell come the time? Or having it how you personally want, and thereby inherently making you yourself happier and wanting to keep it longer. When you have a car with a combination like manual and tan leather, there will be some people who'll travel the country to buy it from you because it's their perfect car. It's just a bit harder trying to find those buyers.
