I cannot thank you enough for this thread. I just bought a 2004 545i without nav. I HATE the old M-ASK iDrive system so far. I was going to just add an aux plug and do the coding myself for that and the hidden sport mode I keep reading about, but seeing that and entire retrofit to the newer system is possible...I'm DEFINITELY going to go that route.

 

On a side note has the car given you a lot of mechanical problems? I would have liked to done this upgrade in my 05 545i but I just paid $1800 at the dentist today for my wisdom teeth surgery lol
