Just an FYI it ended up being the MASK unit unfortunately. It actually drained my battery so many times that I had to replace that as well. I took it to a reputable garage that works on imports and they said the e60 is well known to have the MASK or CCC go bad. Unfortunately, it will cost $1987 total for the MASK, battery and labor.

Dude, buy the MASK for a couple hundred bucks, same for the battery, and find someone near who does coding. Chances are simply swapping MASK units with the same build year should suffice and may not even need coding. $2k for a battery and MASK replacement is beyond steep.

Since when have the e60 been know to have the CCC or MASK go bad?

Before I told them to go ahead I searched the internet for the MASK and the cheapest I found was like $800 on ebay for a used one which theres guarentee that it would even work. I live in Syracuse, NY and its a huge city where theres tons of mechanics that know how to work on these cars. You either take it to the dealer here or you take it to literally 3 shops that work on them.

The guy I talked to at the garage use to be the service manager at the local bmw dealership and he said he would see them go bad all the time.
