I have the 19" M-172 wheels and yesterday hit yet another of New Jerseys infamous potholes, and there goes the 5TH tires is 6 months. I am running 245/35/19's Conti-Sport contact 2's on the car. I have 275/30/19's on the rear. As I said 5 front tires in past 6 months and I've had it. Have the M172's chromed by the way. I will take any suggestions on a different size tire or make that might help me with this issue. I was thinking of going with 245/40/19 to get a little more sidewall between the road and the rim. Also thinking of going with the conti DWS. I dont need strictly summer tires, IMO they ride like bricks unlesss they are warmed up.Im not sure how big of a tire I could go with without causing an issue with the car. Thank you for anyone who might help me out!!!

If your roads are that bad I'd go back to 18's with meat. JMO

+1 with Achtung... I have the same wheel/tire set up as you, and these Jersey roads as murder!!! I just got a wheel back from the wheel shop with a bend from a pothole and dropped another one off. I actually enjoy my winter 18'" setup mainly b/c there is no worry about bending the wheel or blowing out the tire(s)...

I'd love to get my hands on the OEM style 124's in chrome but cant seem to locate a set of 4. But I see the tire size for them is 245/40/18. Still low profile so really not much extra sidewall I'm assuming. Any wheel styles and tire sizes that would look nice on an 08 550i that you guys might recommend? Dragonfox, seems these jersey roads are getting worse and worse year round!

+1 You gotta go with 18" as the fronts wont really take much higher profile with 19"

I had no problems with 245/40 R19 on a 8.5x19 ET14 wheel with rolled front fenders and slightly lowered front (lowered with coilovers to msport height).

285/30 would be fine and be correct rolling radius and a slightly higher sidewall than 275/30.
