I'm wondering what is the largest 17" tire size I would safely without any issues I would be able to use on my 07 525i sport package? I plan on using the stock rims which are fine in my opinion... Right now the car has Goodyear Eagle's NCT 5's run flats 245/45R17. I don't really think that the run flats are a necessity so I am open to non run flats. I am just looking for a much wider footprint, better handling and more rugged look.

Thanks

Hi
The original 17" rim is 7,5" or max. 8" wide (depending on the style of the rim). So the widest size of tyre is 245/45...
Otherwise you need wider rim => 8,5" to 9,5"

Right now i have same tyres in my 535D as you. I will throw thouse run flat tyres to trash as soon as possible, hate them

Waiting style 166 19"...

Thanks
Widening the tyre and lowering the sidewall height may give improved sharpness of turn feeling, but at the expense of ride comfort and aquaplaning resistance.

The sharper feel may actually be at the expense of grip. Only you can decide if that equates to 'better handling'

Congratulations. Those Beyern mesh wheels look great on an E60. I saw them in person on an E60 last weekend - polished lip and grey centers. The wheels looked very subtle and OEM.
