Question

I know it sounds crazy, but in an attempt to reduce our insurance costs when we added our teenage son to the policy, I increased our deductibles to $1000. So you can imagine I was kicking myself when my windshield cracked (I won't go into detail on how that happened ). I called the dealer and they quoted $1660! My hubby called the other dealer and they gave him the name of the group that they outsource their windshield replacements to. We called them and found out their price is $345!! I had it replaced this morning. They did manage to save my condensation sensor as well as the rain sensor. I won't be able to test them until tomorrow. And they did use OEM glass.

I'm so thankful we discovered this alternative

Yup, on some cases if we can avoid going to the dealer it would be a lot cheaper.

Yeah. A good company to use is Safelite Auto Glass. I believe they are nation wide. They always use factory windshields and cost is typically around $350 (had 3 windshields replaced on my SUV).

I have USAA and sent me to S.A.G. too have my windscreen replaced. I asked the installer and USAA about that quality. The S.A.G. WAS NOT OEM, but was better quality. It has a higher grade glass based on some factors... thicker glass, metal tinting, something like that. It was last year some time. At any rate, don't stress it.
