hi,
I received my new wheels from Germany today 124 original with Dunlop tyres, the wheels arrived, they are as new
, one small scratch only, on the right front wheels, cant be seen, I was really happy but first bad surprise, winter wheels, damn  .
I went to a close garage to get them installed, the man there told me that the 4 wheels are 18/245/40 R18, so same size, he mounted the wheels but while I was getting out of the garage, the car was blocked, actually he mounted the rear on the front and wheels tapped the suspension, I was furious
then he verified and noticed finally that front are 8 and back are 9
finally the question???
how come the wheels are the same on 4x tires
is that normal
I have some black dust spots on front tires that doesnt go, what product should I use
I APPRECIATE ANY HELP;

If I understand your question correctly, the rear wheels on sports package cars are diffferent size than the fronts. I think the rims are all the same size.

Wait whats your question? How come the wheels are NOT the same on all 4?
Basic version. Those wheels came on a sports sedan. and wider rears provide more grip in the back when you need it to accelerate.
P.S. The rims are larger in the rear. 9" wide vs. 8" wide in the front. Tire size is 275mm in the rear and 245mm in the front. It would not be pretty mounting a 275mm wide tire on a 8" wheel.

On BMW catalogue tires and rims should be the following :
8J*18/245/40 R18 FRONT
9J*18/275/35 R18 REAR
What I have is:
8J*rims with 18/245/40 R18 tires for FRONT
9J*rims with 18/245/40 R18 tires for REAR
9J rear rims are larger then 8J
Rear wheels are larger than front but tires fit perfectly.
Should I change my tires or keep them until summer and then change into all season tires.

2 questions. First, why wouldn't you just install them yourself? It takes 20 min tops. And two, if your mechanic couldn't visually SEE the width difference then he should be punched in the face, seriously. How moronic could he be?

It seems that you have a set of Sport wheels - the back set is wider. Yes, you can mount the 245/40 winter tires on all four wheels, but the rear tires will look a bit strange as they are stretched the additional inch width. I did this last year on those same size wheels. But I changed to 255/40 winter tires on the rear wheels and it looks like a much better fit.
