For various search, it is around 7qt. Here is that I found... with oil filter change.

in iDriver Oil Level checking,
7qt: max
6.5 qt: max (after drive some miles.... I did miss one bar, the gauge works. )
6 qt: max

I put 6qt to trying to know who much oil there when the bar starts.... if the full max bar did mean one qt from min. That's means 5 qt fill shall make the bar at min. In this case, if we put 7qt, we are over 1qt fill (at sensor's info). Did BMW intend to do this to reduce driver complain oil burning (missing) questions? Overfill little bit more to reduce questions?

Not really care about the 1qt price. I am sure that put 7qt in won't hurt the engine at all, just curious....

not quite sure what your question is, but if you have an 09 535xi then you have a long time to go before oil capacity means anything to you. 4 years free maint correct?

i guess some people want to change oil before BMW schedule
some people will change oil at 3k-5k miles, then BMW change at around 14k miles

Over filling can cause problems (excess blowby, foaming, etc). I would not recommend it.

Understood overfill will cause these problem. Without stick, by the iDriver level definition, these cars is overfilled when out of dealer's parking lot.

I know my car is at more then max mark when out of dealer's parking lot. Then the three oil change.....

7 then 6.5 ... then 6 all in max.... I knew I did too many oil changes, car is in 7K miles. I just want to have know how much oil when the sensor shows min..... I got to start with 5qt next time. Then add oil to make it to max .... I usually only change oil in the middle of dealer cycle. Not that often, I admit it is over kill.
