sport seats are kinda overrated IMO also. i am 6'6" and having seats that really grip you like those sport seats do just make you sore and achy after a long drive. the sport seats in the 3 series are even worse.
one thing i would suggest to the OP is taking out your wallet when you drive. that's really helped my back pains in the past.

i have to agree, the comfort seats are the most comfortable seats i have sat in. Never sat in a sport seat, however i had e46 m3 seats, e36 standard seats, e53 sport seats, e39 comfort seats in my prev cars, and out of them all these e60 comfort seats are the most comfortable seats. i have driven 2x 14 hour trips with no issues..
I have standard seats on my 06 550i and I agree that they are not the most comfortable seats.
It will be nice to have comfort seats though. But they should have designed standard seats better.
I actually feel more comfortable in my civic with standard seats than my e60.

I have a 08 550i and i love my 20 way comfort seats. I love how the sides grab me and when im going around turns i dont move all over the place. I liek to extend the thigh support when im taking long drives and tilt the seat in an angle and it makes me feel like im in a lazy boy chair.
after watching this I was amazed that for 25 years how I was driving blind and unconfortable. try this and remove the wallet

After having owned a number of Volvos myself, I can tell you that the Volvo seat is peerless in the comfort department. Today most of the Ford car line have seats brought over from the Volvo line.
Today I drive a 545i Sport with the Sport seats. I like them very much but I find myself adjusting them more often than not. Hang in there, it gets better with time.

I removed my wallet and outerwear every time I get in the car, otherwise it be so uncomfortable to drive. I guess it's my problem then. I'm so use to smaller seat on the e46 m3 that fit me just perfect. The e60 seat are a little bigger and harder for me to get use to.
