So me and my friend were discussing the whole weight vs power thing, and how suspension makes a diff on the track...
so I was wondering, on say, the Top Gear test track? how many seconds?

It sound like that you have not driven a E60
535i is no match to a M5 on the track.

+1...///M5 is a monster compared to the 535 and 550. You must drive them all to understand.

I own the 550i...My girlfriend owns an M5 and I just raced both of them Sunday. There is no comparison. M5 is like a jet fighter and the 550i is a twin engine airplane.

I see. No I havent driven an M5, closest Ive gotten is the M3 and I thought because of the weight difference there would be a difference...guess not.
So are we talking lke a 5 second diff on TG track? I just refer to that because we already have a time for the M and its well known already...
(M5 time = 1:27)

Trouble with the Top Gear test times is that they take them in all weather conditions and at different times so it's tough to draw any real conclusions from the times they get on any given day. With it being a reasonably small track and only timed over a single lap, even a relatively small difference in time can be significant.

That said, I agree with the others, on the same day with the same driver the M5 times will be much quicker than the 535/550. The M5 is in a different league.

The TG track is a self proclaimed high horsepower track. You'd have to be talking some serious light weight modifications like ditching the entire body and jaming that engine in to a 2002tii or a gutted e30 M3. There are some sweet nurburgring vids with a FI s52 powere e30 pwning porsche GT3's.
