So I was looking at my car today and noticed I don't have a sport button. I have the DS mode, is this the same thing as having a "sport" button and pressing it? Me is confused durrr!

The sport button came with the "sport auto transmission", the "DS" mode just allows the engine to use the full rpm range and better gear ratios.

So if my car was had the sport package it doesn't necessarily mean it came with this transmission right?

It seams that way for Euro E60`s, US might different as some of the options are set-up different. Some of the more knowledgeable members may know more.

Sport package and Sport Automatic are two different stand-alone options here in Canada.
Sport Package (2008 535i)includes Sport suspension, matt black shadowline and 18" alloys.
So, you can have either one or both. If you don't have the console button you don't have the Sport Automatic.

I you have the paddle shifter option it has the "SPORT" button in front of the shifter. I can say this really wakes the car up especially with the Dinan stage 2 software. I have surprised many quicker cars off the line in this mode with the DSC off. 550's are toast, I even outran a new Audi S4 up to 60 and they have 4 wheel drive. I love that SPORT button now!

Sport package, Sport Auto , and Paddle shifters were 3 separate options on USA cars in 08.
I think though you had to have the SAT to get the paddles. Check the Info area and look up the 08 order guide.

The "Sport Auto Transmission" was a stand alone option that was an extra $500 if you ordered the Sports Package. It came with the paddle shifters. I just checked my window sticker.
