Hello,

My 07 530xiT with 45k miles consistently sounds like a ticking sewing machine at startup. The noise goes away after some time.

I know it's the valve train but the dealer will not fix. they say, "its normal".

I had it in for service in January for the same issue. The work order says they replaced the exhaust lifters.
I've had it in 2 times after for the same issue and get the same reply, "it's normal".

Is it?

Thanks

If they already replaced the HVA then pursue them to replace the cylinder head w/ the newer design ... GL!

Is there a service bulletin for this?

I'm trying to gather some ammunition.

Thanks

Next step is to replace the entire cylinder head. My 08 is at the dealership awaiting the arrival of the new cylinder head. SA was upfront and said that the sound was not normal and took care of me.
