I purchased my E60 over 2 months ago and now I am coming up to 50K.... Now I have to decide if I should get the extended warranty.. I have read lots of post about warranty and still confused if should get one or not. Its just sososososo expensive is it worht it....? I was quoted $3,900 for the platinum plan cuz I have Navi... the gold $3,490... for 100K or til Nov/2013. HELPPPP!!!!!

Thanks,
Confused...

Whatever you do get a 3rd party, NOT the BMW one. You'll discover, like I did, that they don't cover the CCC - which controls NAV, Radio, and climate control, that's going to be a $2k repair.

It all depends on how the car is running. For me, I'd set the $4k aside and put in a CD or some other investment vehicles. Hopefully, I don't have to touch it, but when the time comes, I'll take it out & pay for repairs. Chances are your car might run without any major issues for the next 3 years.

There are a few threads here about them, I think EuroCarFan has a pretty good one. Unfortunately, I thought CPO was enough, it's not

I am in the same boat as you. My car has 39k miles and manu warranty is out next week. Car has been running great so far with no major problems. Because I plan to keep it for a while..., I'm having headaches deciding should i get the extended warranty or not. Almost all of the BMW dealers I dealt with so far will not budge on the msrp of their own extended warranty. I'm seriously considering the 3rd party warranties(easycare, mercury, etc...). Oh btw, in response to a few post above, it's to my understanding that only the platinum plan covers the CCC, navi, i-drive, etc... Anyways, I'll post the info up IF I decide to go w/ the 3rd party warranty.

John

^^ 4 year or 50,000 miles from original sale date or if it?s a cpo its 6 years or 100,000 miles from original sale date.

I went with a 3rd party warranty for my 550i when I had it. Cam recommended by SA. Mercury warranty for additional 4 years or 85k was about $1800 with a $0 deductible. Bought it from my credit union.

My Ride: I have a 2007 Black Sapphire BMW 530i with SMG. It has the auburn interior, has PDC, Sports Package, Premium Package, rear automatic sunshades with manual side sunshades, 35% black tint, Upgraded angeleyes from Angelibrights, and Logic 7 Sound System

so it might be a dumb question...but can you still get an aftermarket warranty after your 4 year factory warrant is expired? Mine expired this past May and I have been think about it, but the car basically is just used for a 5 minute daily commute so I was weighing the pros and cons. Thanks everybody!

$1800 sure is cheaper than $3900.... But what does it cover..? Does it cover the same as the Platinum from BWM..?
