i had this problem-eventually traced to IBS (as prev mentioned)- my car is 2003 model, there is an updated spec one now supplied if you buy from BMW, needs adapter to fit to existing plug. You can prove if IBS is faulty by disconnecting small lead coming from neg terminal on battery. I ran my car for 2 months like this with no probs. If you decide to relace unit if faulty, dont bother with 2nd hand- the one I bought only lasted about 6 months. If you decide to buy new, shop carefully, on Ebay they were selling brand new for more than local dealer price. Hope this helps

Pls let us know the exact spot of the Ibs sensors. Can u capture in on pictures. I want to disconnect the Ibs sensor from my battery but I don't know where is it. Is there a nut that we need to remove first b4 we can disconnect the Ibs sensor? Pls help.
