guys, a question on the 5 series. we have had our 550i for about 4 months now. Wifes primary car. I drive it when it needs to be cleaned and any other time I want to steal it from her.

I got in yesterday and noticed that the floorboard of the passenger side, is slightly raised where your feet rest. In other words, the pad or foam slighly raised, creating a small bump approx 6 inches wide by 6 inches long and raises approx 1inch at the highest point. At first I thought maybe my wife ran over something that pushed in the undercarriage. I checked and not so. Next I felt the bump again and then wondered if maybe the Airconditioning was draining into the floor area and caused the foam to expand. Not so because its neither wet nor smells like it was wet. I stopped by Crevier but my advisor was gone. Some other guy that seemed to be more in a hurry that interested in helping, told me all 5 series have some type of raised area there, some more than others. I told him I was almost sure that never existed before regardless of what he just told me and he said he has seen it before. So I asked him why it is raised, of course he had no answer which lead me to believe he was more interested in moving on with whatever he was doing instead of really helping me.

I didnt have time to go find another 5 series to open the door and check others so thought I would ask all of you if your cars have the same thing?

I get back in town and will check with my own advisor to be sure but while out, good time to get your feedback please.

By the way, while there, a brand new 2011, dark blue 535 pulled past me. So prior to seeing the car in person, my first impression was the new 5 looked nice, but nothing overly exciting. As this one pulled up behind me, I first thought it was a new 7 and then has it passed I knew it was the new 5 and I was extremely impressed. Such a nice car and the changes looks like a mix of the new 7 with hints of the old 5 in there too. I cant wait to see more of them with nice 19s or 20s to make it even more aggressive looking. I was starting to think this year model was going to go to Mercedes with their new E, but not now. The E class looks great, but the new 5 definitely takes the cake.
