Steering Alignment for Active Steering
I recently had the Steering Alignment for Active Steering. Now I notice the steering wheel is positioned slightly left on straight roads. The road does have a crown; however, I don't remember the crown of the road having this much affect on the position of the steering wheel. My dealer states that the alignment is all computer settings and the steering wheel can't be perfectly level due to road crowns. I never noticed this issue for years after I bought my 530. I don't notice any alignment problems such as steering pulling left/right and such...
Any recommendations? I know they put 50lbs of weight in the passenger floorboard when doing the alignment..maybe this wasn't done?? thanks

If the dealer did it, have them redo it. Mine was just aligned on Monday and everything is great now. I had a tire shop do it... they even fixed my rear wheels which were slightly slanted causing uneven wear. Have it fixed so you don't have any uneven wear on your front tires because of them being off center. Mine was positioned left as well. Most likely something was not 0ed out... computer error?

I have a 530i RWD aligned at a BMW Center on the BMW Kinetics alignment rack. At all four corners, ride height was verified and all wheels were aligned. Steering angle sensor was also zero'ed after the alignment. I have Active Steering with the sport package and all 245 mm width summer tires. No issue after several thousand miles and over a year. Car and steering wheel still track straight on streets and highways. There is the occasional off-center steering wheel due to cross winds, truck ruts and road camber, but it is not pronounced at all. Tire wear is even, and rotated about every 7,000 miles. I expect to at least 28,000 miles out of my W-rated summer tires.
The BMW Center charges $129 USD for this alignment work. Do you have a staggered / wider rear tire setup?

I say go have it redone, they had to align mines three times until it was right, i drove off and it was to the right. The bmw dealer here charges $240.00 cant believe you can get it for $129.00 what a difference.
