06 525i static from dashboard when driving
Hi Everyone,
I noticed a strange issue that just began on Friday of last week. When I drive my car over about 40mph there is a noise that sounds like static coming from the dash. The faster I drive the louder it gets. At first I thought it was the radio but even with the radio off the static is present.
If I slow down below 40mph or if the car is stopped the static is not there. The car has about 65,000 miles on it. Has anyone heard of an issue like this or might know what could be the problem? Thanks.

I'm not sure the radio is ever really "off" -- it is muted or unmuted. Try this one...while driving, reboot the iDrive while you are hearing the noise using the 3 finger reboot (hold mute and both CD and DVD eject buttons). Does it go away while the iDrive is rebooting? I think during that time, the radio is off.
