So I just picked up an 04 545i that the guy said had an intermittent code for crank position sensor, the symptoms were that it’d sometimes not crank, but most times it does crank and start up the thing is that sometimes it stalls/cuts off while stopped or driving which is dangerous. Worst part is it won’t crank for hours after it has stalled. Other times it’ll start right back up
So I replaced the sensor today and it looks like the old one was a cheap generic sensor so I put in a $80 sensor from orielys that looked like good quality. The car seemed like it was fixed till it stalled again on me and wouldn’t restart so I guess either something needs to be reset or that’s not the issue and I possibly got scammed lol. Either ways I’d like to try to fix the issue because I’ve cleaned up the car pretty well and it drives decent otherwise I’ll sell it forward
it’s possible the sensor is a bad one but I don’t know how I’d test that.
another thing that may point towards some possible causes is that I’m also having a battery drain, goes from normal 12.4-8 to about 10.5-11v by the morning
im hoping someone here knows what my issue could be...
