It took me a while to get over my E39..but my E60 has way more buttons to fall in love with

Asked the insurance if you can keep the car. If it will cost you a few hundred $, I'll say keep the car and just replace the windshield and sideview mirror. Keep it as your beater car.

How heavy were the branches? Wow, that's alot of damage. Congrats onthe new e60.

Insurance will probably want $5000. They will not give itcheap. besides, the man probably needs the funds to pay for his new car

The limb was about 6" in diameter and about 10 feet long. If you ever tried to carry a branch that size, you'd realize how heavy it is. Compounding the fact that it fell from some undetermined height, you get that kind of damage. The impact broke the branch in two and the piece bounced back up into the air and hit the back of the car on its way down.

I could have purchased the car back from the ins. company very reasonably, but in Connecticut, if you receive a settlement and buy the vehicle back, they make you fix everything if you want to re-register the car. Then they give you a salvage title because the car had been totaled. That reduces resale value by half.

In my case, it would have been a wash monetarily, but I decided that there would less future uncertainty with a newer vehicle, and 6 months later, I don't regret my decision.
